Havannah and Three Hills Nature Reserve sits just a few miles from the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Diminutive in size, it is the site of a former mine and is less than 1km² in size. But contained within is a beautiful variety of trees and wildlife, a haven within the city. A few minutes from my home, I have spent two years walking through its many paths with my camera trying to capture what it means to me. I decided to shoot it all on Portra 400 medium format film as the slower process of metering and composing has really helped me take in the surroundings.
